Candy Mutant
Candy Mutants are a rare mutation of Candyfolk. They are created when The Candy Virus mutates within one's system, causing the virus to alter their candy-like appearance into actual candy; i.e, someone who resembled rock candy starts becoming actual rock candy. Their joins stiffening, their lungs becoming stone, until they slowly perish. A fate worse than death.
It is unknown what causes this mutation and it is so new and rare that not many know of it. Though, some citizens of the Roripop Kingdom, specifically the higher class, look down upon these mutants, calling them "freaks of nature."
Causes
The mutation seems rare, only being discovered in about a few dozen Candyfolk thus far. It is unclear if there are any similarities between cases or if it is simply random. More research is being done on the nature of the mutation as we speak.
Symptoms
The mutation starts off simple enough: a strange tingling throughout their body and minor cold like symptoms. Over the coming weeks, depending on the type of candy one represents, they will start to experience minor physical changes. Muscle stiffness, sticky skin, ect. Nothing too out of the ordinary, just minor inconveniences.
After about two months is when the real symptoms start kicking in. The physical changes will worsen, starting to make one's life a living hell. Melting skin, appendages starting to turn to rock, internal bleeding, tumors; depending on one's candy representation these symptoms will manifest.
After this point the severity of the symptoms and one's lifespan will vary. Some live years or decades longer, and some last a few more months. One thing is certain though: no one has survived.
Treatment
So far there is no known treatment, though Princess Blowpop assures the problem is being looked into.
