Vampires: General Characteristics (Vam-pai-ur)

Basic Information

Anatomy

Vampires are much like humans, with a few key differences.   Physically, they are like humans, except they have red eyes (with the exception of some vampire lines), fangs, and tend to be pale.

Genetics and Reproduction

There are two ways for a vampire to reproduce. One is to have a biological child, the same way a human would, or two is to make a human or other humanoid creation drink their blood, at which point a vampire will have sired that human or humanoid, and they will be a vampire as well. If the vampire has any genetic mutations that are related to them being a vampire (for example, gold instead of red eyes), the newly sired human will inherit that.     Generations of Vampires, be they biological or sired, have distinctive teeth depending on how far removed from the First Generation they are.

  • A First or Second generation vampire has long sharp fangs, usually doubling the length of the other teeth, which are essentially the same as a human's.
  • They are most useful for precise, small bites.
  • After the Third generation, all of the teeth become sharp and more equal in length, without the big difference between the fangs and the rest.
  • They are most useful for ripping and tearing appart the flesh.

    Growth Rate & Stages

Whenever a human or humanoid is sired, they imminently begin to transform into a vampire, which involves the growing fangs, a change in eye color, and they will stop aging. The vampiric transformation process is often painful, and many humans or humanoids will pass out from the pain during it.   If a vampire is born as a vampire or part vampire, they will be born with the vampiric traits, and won't have to suffer a painful transformation. Their bodies tend to stop aging in their mid-twenties, whenever their brain is completely done developing.

    Dietary Needs and Habits

The only thing vampires can digest is blood. After a human is turned, they will lose the enzymes and bacteria in their body that allows humans to break down their food. The exception being those who were born part vampire. They can often still eat and drink other things, but they have to have blood in their diet in addition to those things.

    Additional Information

    Perception and Sensory Capabilities

The area vampires are most different than humans is in their vampiric abilities. Vampires have enhanced scenes, but at the cost of being easily overwhelmed by strong smells, noises, etc., for example, the scent of garlic overwhelms and repulses them. Vampire also has enhanced physical abilities, such as enhanced strength, rapid healing whenever they drink blood, and increased speed.
