Panfyr
Panfyr
Panfyr is a female variant human who had the misfortune to grow up orphaned in the Underdark after her adventuring parents met an untimely death. She would have been tossed aside had it not been for a deep gnome who took her to his village where he used her a free labor in his quest to grow the best Nightwisp and Blightrose garden in the whole region. This gnome, named Druka the Forgotten, was a suspicious taskmaster who ensured that Panfyr spent countless hours in the garden weeding, watering, and otherwise tending to his flower crops while he puttered around in his workshop. Unbeknownst to him, Panfyr developed two skills as a result of her decade long servitude. One was archery which she honed in lieu of physically chasing marauding vermin from the garden who sought to chew away at the flower stems. Years of living underground gave her incredible sight in low light level environments and she could spot and kill the small critters that threatened the garden - keeping the garden flourishing and Druka away other than harvesting times. The second ability was a result of her boredom, having countless hours of spare time (while she sat in ambush for those damn critters…), and her innate attraction to everything/anything exciting like magic. As Druka’s farm abutted a region with Drow, she had the opportunity to befriend a much younger and impressionable Drow named Lollith that shared what she knew. Panfyr leveraged this ‘friendship’ to learn basic skills and with countless practice became proficient in them. After a decade of bondage under Druka, she decided to flee the flower farm and indeed the Underdark in total lest she be hunted down and returned to servitude. Leaving the dark, she struggled her first few years ‘topside’ and drifted from gritty village to dangerous cities where others tried to take advantage of her. It was in these rough and tumble environments where she developed her third skill - roguery. It was the only way she could provide for herself and she had no moral reservations about stealing, forging documents, spying for others, and otherwise ‘getting by’. If anything, her life had taught her that no one will look after her like herself. After a sordid job went wrong, she decided to leave city life and depart for an adventuring lifestyle. Whether this is a good move for her (or anyone she meets…) remains to be seen.
