Phylactery

A phylactery is a magical object created by a lich to store some of it's life force. A cleric or mage creates one of these when becoming a lich. If a lich is destroyed he will come back to existance near his phylactery after some time. Every phylactery is unique, in nature, defense, and means of destruction.

Dracoliches and demiliches also employ this device.
