Shar

Shar, known as the Mistress of the Night and the Lady of Loss, is the goddess of darkness and the night. She has a twin sister named Selune, who is a benevolent goddess. Shar holds the portfolios of darkness, forgetfulness, loss, and night. She embodies darkness not only as the absence of light but also as the darkness within one's heart, mind, and soul. Her domain encompasses deeds done in secrecy and the desire to forget. Additionally, she is credited with creating the Shadow Weave, a dark counterpart to the Weave of Mystryl/Mystra.   She is often depicted as a darkly beautiful human woman with long black hair, dressed entirely in black.   Shar represents the void, embodying the nothingness that existed before everything. She yearns to return to the ancient calm of nonexistence.   Twisted and perverse, Shar is characterized by jealousy and hatred. Her intentions revolve around undermining all creation, using even her devoted worshippers as pawns in her schemes against existence itself.   Despite her malevolent nature, Shar offers a form of healing by allowing those who seek it to forget their sorrows. However, she is ultimately a sadist who delights in inflicting pain and causing loss.   Shar's hostility extends even to her twin sister, Selune, whom she slays every new moon, relishing in tormenting Selune's faithful followers.   She is credited with creating the Shadowfell, which sparked an eternal war between herself and Mystral/Mystra. Shar opposes gods of light, such as Lathander.   Shar once counted Myrkul as an ally and briefly allied with Kelemvor. However, her true ally was Talona, the goddess of poison and disease. Additionally, she maintained alliances with Vhaeraun, the drow patron of shadow magic.
