Triamat

City of three continents

Triamat is a huge city build at the edge of three continents. A large bridge reaches from each continent to an artificial island in between them. The bridge is large enough that four wagons can easily pass each other. 
Merchants have to pay toll to pass the bridge. The income of the trade toll is a fundamental source of the wealth of the noble families that reign over the city. 
Triamat is ruled by twelve families with shifting alliances and under constant political intrigue. An infrequent council elects a doge. There is no set reign time and the title may be passed to other families or if the alliances shift, a new doge may be elected by the council.
