Éda - The Earth
Éda is the divine embodiment of the entire world. Everything which exists in this mortal plane resides on her surface, and everything which grows does so by borrowing strength from The Earth.
Everything the gods sought to make with the universe, this Balance they desire so much, is perfectly encapsulated within Éda as well on a smaller scale. Things are born, they grow, they age, they die. Everything from ants to mountains go through this cycle in their own time, and Éda watches over it all.
Divine Portfolio
Éda is God of the Earth and the Metal, the Trees and the Mountains. She has at least some power over everything which grows upon her land, though more specifically she rules over all the wild animals and plants that other Gods have not claimed. She seems to have a strong preference for the natural children of the world, such as bears and wildflowers over the civilised children such as humans and cultivated crops, and regularly comes into conflict with with the City Gods over how much space is being claimed by the sentient races. Sharing the domain of harvests with Patír but being the senior of the pair, Éda holds sway over the season of Autumn and controls when crops and fruits are most ripe.Divine Relationships & Shared Portfolios
The Primordials
Talsia, Éda, Lútus, and Suróza are the four founding gods of creation. They predate the rest of existence, and from their power all other higher gods were born. Though usually not regarded as the most powerful of them, Éda holds a special place amongst the Primordials as the most important; she is the center stage of all the Cosmos, where all mortal life exists and worships.Gods of Life and Harvest
Patír is the one who originally brought Life to Éda's surface, working with the other Gods to create the first beasts and plants of the world. Since those early days, The Earth and The Provider have had an inseperable link, for all of Patír's creations call Éda home. While nowadays Patír has a much stronger focus on the civilised plants and animals, together they are the Gods of harvesting and foraging, fertility and birth.Triad of the Hunt
Éda, Sévas, and Kanzu are all Gods of the Hunt, each holding a different aspect of it. Éda is the patron God of wild animals, supplying the creatures being hunted. Sévas as the God of wolves - some of natures most effective hunters - holds sway over the tracking and cornering of said animals, while Kanzu rules over the kill itself.Piety
You gain piety with Éda by aiding the natural world, and preventing the spread of “civilisation” from going too far:- Planting a grove of trees, or otherwise helping an area recover from a wildfire or other devastation (especially man-made deforestation)
- Releasing an animal from a man-made hunting trap, freeing captured animals from cages and zoos
- Defending the natural world from the unnatural creatures humanity has created; such protecting a wolf from a zombie, or a deer from a half-dragon
- Caging animals against their will
- Cutting down trees for lumber, or replacing wild fields with cropland
- Resurrecting something whose time has arrived
