Aesk is the Republic's foremost expert on all matters relating to biology, anatomy, and shapeshifting magics. With unparalleled control over their body, Aesk is able to transform into any creature they have seen before, modify their capabilities on the fly regardless of form, and even invent new combinations or creatures to suit any need; winged regenerating hydras, fire breathing frost giants, and sentient pools of swirling acid are all within the realm of possibility.
Of the potentially infinite options, Aesk's favourite shape to take is that of a gargantuan bird whose wings crackle with lightning and boom with thunder when soaring through the sky. It is said that when this bird is on the warpath, a furious storm follows with them.

Appearance

While capable of appearing as any person, age, gender, or race, Aesk usually takes the same form when interacting with people from The Republic: a gray skinned changeling with glowing blue hair that appears more like leaves and vines than anything else.
Notably, the signature colorless eyes of most changelings are strikingly replaced by bright, crystalline orbs with no pupils or whites, simply a solid shining blue consistent in any shape they take.

Personality

Though they spend much of their time exploring the lost or hidden places of the world, discovering and documenting all the species within it, Aesk does seem to enjoy a good spectacle when interacting with civilisation, often announcing their presence by circling overhead in their Storm Bird form. They have been documented to be somewhat playful, occasionally playing tricks on even the highest ranking mages with their shapeshifting.

History

Founding the City of Change

While normally Aesk seems to prefer being left alone to explore and study the world, they did spend a great deal of time transforming Chyreum from a humble town into a gleaming Capital of concrete and marble centuries ago, and became close friends with the ruling family they installed there. As the leading sponsor for the city and its towering Colosseum, one of the best known methods of catching a glimpse of this Immortal is to wait for the annual Festival of Change, where they have consistently made an appearance every year since the tradition was founded.
