Description
At the edge of the city overlooking the Tisian Gulf stands a mighty oval building, filled with the greatest repositories of draconic knowledge in the world. Several collected skeletons stand posed and suspended by magic or by wires with placards detailing when they were found, along with any known myths of the dragon while they lived. In smaller spaces there are skeletons or anatomy diagrams of dragonborn and Half-dragons, often with comparisons and differences between the two species written in books or placards beside them.
It is a public space, with anyone in the city able to come and go as they please, staffed exclusively by dragonkin acting as everything from guides to security. Fairly recently a new building was attached to the exterior of the museum, though is much smaller. It is the head branch of Zarligantír's new publishing company, filled with endless scrolls, tomes, research papers, maps, and more. It has quickly become the go-to place in the city for magical inks and papers, though has yet to succeed in parting many of the mages from their secrets.
Reaching out from the rooftop of the building is a massive bridge, hundreds of feet long extending backwards into the city, as a way to reach the museum without needing to navigate the complicated, overflowing streets between. When the museum's creator is in the city, citizens are advised to not use the bridge, for it also serves as a landing platform whenever the most powerful creature in the world is using his greater draconic form.
People & Organisations
Inxikmalar "Sheek" Ker'los
Sheek is a red dragonborn who has reached such an age that his scales have lost their lustre, but his amber eyes remain ever watchful. He is one of the curators of the museum, watching over the many exhibits and offering information to the many visitors. His manners of speech are less refined than most folk in the city, and he is prone to blunt statements and direct questions, leading to a reputation for rudeness, though he is far past the age of caring.
Exhibits
Below are listed some, but not all, of the many grand and impressive displays within the building. Even the most complete draconic skeletons are missing a few bones here and there, while some remains are little more than shards of a skull with some teeth found nearby.
Baztolan, The Voiceless
The colossal skeleton of a dragon stands in the centre of the entrance hall, its wings spread and suspended by magic, almost reaching the ceiling while leaving shadows over the balcony of the next floor. The placard below this massive form tells the story of a bronze dragon who, at some point in their life, lost the ability to speak and summon storms with its breath. While such a loss might have driven mortals to despair, the dragon instead trained its body to perfection, becoming one of the strongest beings in the world by using physical might to compensate for a lack of elemental power.
Their body was recovered just off the cost of Pelíos during the first expeditions while planning the Gates of Kratis over a century ago.
Kúr'tár'zós, Archonslayer
It is likely this green dragon once had a much longer name, that these three syllables are simply what remained after time and legend devoured the rest. Regardless, its remains are held aloft by magic near the ceiling of a hall, wings spread and mouth open in terrifying and magnificent flight. Their placard sits on a wall covered by the skeletal shadow, describing a poisonous breath so toxic that even the most powerful and ancient demigods were not immune.
Their remains were found on an island off the coast of Kanios, its bones covered in countless deep cuts and grooves that are obscured from most visitors by height and lighting.
Guardian Masks
Eight shimmering masks of dragonscale hang within a glass case, while two hooks remain empty with placards reading "gold" and "blue" above them. All the other colours and metals are accounted for, and legends state that whomever wears one of these masks would be imbued with the elemental might of the dragon whose scales were used to make it. One can only dream of the power granted to the one who completes the collection.
King of the Mountains
The most recent almost-complete addition to the museum is a mighty dragon with a crown of horns extending from its skull displayed in a sleeping position, with wings folded in and tail curled around itself. The placard has few details, only mentioning that the body was recovered from the mountains west of Amphousa in a lair formed by glacial ice.
