Olsír - The Stars

As the god of magic, Olsír is the patron goddess of the Republic. She grants humanity and other races the ability to do wondrous things by borrowing power from the aether within which she resides (in some tellings, she is the aether itself.)   During the Archon war, Olsír gave humanity incredible might in the form of magic never again seen before or since, granting victory over the elves and their masters. Near the end of the war, she granted a further gift to the world - a demigod daughter named Zia who would lead the war efforts and go on to form the beginnings of the Republic after the war was over. For all this and more, Olsír is the primary god worshipped by all within Ósa.

Divine Portfolio

She is the patron of Knowledge and Law, Magic, Politics, and Ambition. Civilisation and its cities rely on her teachings to function much of the time, and she serves as a symbol of the mage’s status in the world. Those that worship devoutly often spend their time uncovering arcane secrets and learning about reality with the stars as their guide. Further, after Kiderha's death she stepped up to become the primary God of Protection, with many praying to her or carving her symbol into doors to keep their homes and villages safe from harm.

Divine Relationships & Shared Portfolios

Partners of Night

Sévas and Olsír have been coupled since the early days of creation - The Moon and Stars forever together, ruling the night sky as one. There are several religious groups who worship the pair as a single entity, believing them to represent the inseparable duality of human nature weighing ambition against compassion.

Celestial Protectors

Originally a group formed of Lútus, Talsia, and Kiderha - gods dedicated to slaying monsters and protecting mortals from threats too dangerous for them to handle alone. Lútus left his warrior's post after deeming The Balance safe enough, and Kiderha was slain during the Archonomachy, leaving Talsia alone to safeguard the world.   This did not last for long though, as Olsír stepped up into the role Kiderha had left behind, using magic in place of innate draconic power. Soon after she assumed her role she gave birth to The Champion, who would grow into The Dragon's true successor. The three Gods stand as the new guardians of the world, hopefully for the rest of time.

City Gods

Talsia, Olsír, Katas, Patír, and Temni are the five great city Gods. They are more widly honoured throughout the Republic of Ósa in every settlement as patrons of civilisation. As the Patron deity of The Republic and mother of their founder, Olsír is by far the most widly worshipped and beloved of them all.

Tetrad of Knowledge

Suróza, Olsír, Lútus, and Ámmos all claim Knowledge as part of their domains. Each represents different aspects of this most vital of realms; Suróza holds sway over languages and the uncovering of lost or hidden knowledge, while Olsír is the Goddess of general knowledge, both magical and mundane. Ámmos rules over history and grants glimpses of the future, while Lútus is lord of invention - the act of expanding knowledge rather than hoarding or rediscovering it.

Piety

You gain piety with Olsír by following her teachings and expanding her influence in the world.
  • Attaining new status or power, be that magical, physical, or political
  • Experimenting with magic, creating new spells or researching old ones
  • Protecting those with lesser status from threats they cannot themselves handle
You lose piety with Olsír by ignoring her teachings or weakening her influence in the world.
  • Breaking any laws or helping a criminal escape justice
  • Losing status or power
  • Destroying magical items or dispelling arcane magics without good reason
Olsír’s Devotee - 3 piety You have proven yourself a worthy devotee to the mysteries of magic, and have been granted the ability to see objects in the world affected by it. You can cast detect magic a number of times equal to your intelligence modifier (minimum of once). You regain all expended uses when you finish a long rest. In addition, you know the prestidigitation cantrip. Intelligence is your spellcasting modifier for both spells.   Olsír’s Votary - 10 piety When you fail a saving throw against a spell or other magical effect, you can reroll the die before the effect takes place, and you must use the new result. Once you use this trait you can’t do so again until you finish a long rest.   Olsír’s Disciple - 25 piety Once per long rest, when you cast a spell that requires a saving throw or attack roll, you can use this trait to either grant yourself advantage on the attack, or a single target disadvantage on the saving throw.   Champion of the Stars - 50 piety You can increase your Intelligence or Constitution score by 2 and also increase your maximum for that score by 2.
