I'm inclined to believe him." - Telío AloriBy far the greatest master of elemental and draconic magics in the world, Zarligantír has turned himself into a creature of flames and scales. Capable of wiping out cities with a barrage of burning meteors or melting the very ground to a lake of lava that burns so hot it glows blue, even in his "lesser" form he has never known defeat. Yet there exists a greater strength within him, one which marks him as the undisputed Power of all the known world; he can shed his humanoid body and unleash the form of an almighty dragon, with invincible hide and vorpal claws. His research and might have spawned a thousand imitators desperate to copy him throughout history. None have ever even gotten close; monstrous draconic hybrids haunt the fringes of civilisation as a result, twisted and turned mad by magic that was supposed to bring their ascension. Even other "successful" half-dragons are troubled beings, struggling to contain the power within without losing their sanity, but Zarligantír has never shown any signs of either internal or external conflict, implying that whatever draconic spirit dwells inside him has been utterly conquered.
Appearance
Like that of a red dragonborn but far taller, with a slender body and long, draconic neck. Unbreakable black horns adorn his head and spine, and glowing eyes seem to swirl with magma behind his slitted pupils. But most notable of all are his magnificent wings which, when unfurled, have a span easily twice his height. With his towering height and massive wings he can be terrifying to behold, so will often use magic to shrink his form and hide the wings, looking more like an "average" dragonborn.Personality
Zarligantír is by far the most public-facing Immortal, in charge of any announcements or decrees they have to make, and has even recently begun to attend interviews and meetings with various Republic mages and minstrels. He is known to enjoy a celebrity lifestyle, surrounded by decadence and adoration wherever he goes, and occasionally performing flyovers in his dragon form above cities to the cheers and adulation of the people below.History
The Lost City of Eresúri
It is known that in ages past, there was a land of incredible opulence and culture situated between Kanios and Prótos, ruled by great mage-kings from the gleaming city of Eresúri. These kings had prospered for centuries as part of The Republic, but just over two centuries ago they grew arrogant, declaring themselves independent from Ósa and charging their old nation extortionate prices for their goods. Whether it was divine punishment for their hubris or simply bad fortune, Kratis, greatest of all krakens, took advantage of Eresúri's new status. The creature sieged the city for months, devouring every single fleet sent out to trade, bargain, or do battle with it, starving the newly independent territory of all their wealth. The city grew desperate enough to promise all its remaining wealth and magic as reward for their salvation. Hundreds of would-be heroes met their ends as a result, until one day The Dragon Immortal himself appeared. What happened next became the subject of myth, for none saw the battle who would survive it. Legends claim The Dragon fought The Kraken for weeks, and the two were so evenly matched that Zarligantír had to reduce the entire nation to rubble to finally defeat his foe, sinking Eresúri and all its treasures forevermore.Immortalis Arcanum
In an unprecedented act of communication, Zarligantír has founded a new publishing business. Its purpose is to make the sharing of arcane knowledge and power easier for all mages in The Republic, an idea which has many who already fear the strength of the upper classes on edge. The idea is still in its infancy, an the Immortal's greatest challenge will be in convincing the Assembly to part with their hard earned and incredibly dangerous secrets.
