Musical Time Shift
Rebeca held her head as the song swirled the world into a hazy none existence. Usually it wasn't so bad, but after all that time with the flashy lights and the loud noises, she'd developed quite a head ache. Hopefully where they were going would be a bit on the dark and quiet side. The world came back into focus and Naga stopped singing. She looked around. I was the middle of the night, thank goodness, and all was quiet. Something felt...oddly familiar. In all their travels she'd yet to come across a place she felt connected to. If you took away the plants and made everything run down, it would be just like her home village, castle and everything.
"I..I think I'm back home..."
Naga wobbled a bit, and started to fall. Pepsiko caught her. At least she stayed conscious this time. "It wasn't as far as that last time, but we still came a long way," she said, steadying herself.
Missy looked around. "Are you sure, Princess?" she asked. She didn't spend much time in Rebecca's era, so she couldn't tell for sure.
Rebecca nodded. "I am fairly certan. Altho it looks much nicer. Maybe its a bit later, or earlier."
"If it's later, maybe we shouldn't tell anybody who you are, just in case," Missy said. "Is there any way you can make yourself look different than how people you knew remember you?"
"Well, I would say I could dress different, but we should try to fit in. I... I could cut my hair... "
Missy knew how much pride Rebecca had in her hair. "Well, maybe if you put it up, no one would see how long it is..." she suggested. "If we ARE in your time, more or less, where are we?"
Rebecca sighed in relefe. She really didn't want to cut it, but she didn't want to get any of them hurt over it.
"Well, It loos like the center of town. In the day time its the market lace. Its also where they give speeches and hold meetings.... and executions..." She trailed off.
Missy looked around. It didn't look like anyone was there to see them. "We need to find a place to stay, so Naga can rest. And we need some clothes from this time."
"Poor Naga." Pepsiko snuggled Naga.
Rebeca looked around. She wondered if her old home was a safe place to stay. "Lets try the storage space where I used to live..." She said heading off in that direction. She'd lived her for a long time, but the others would get lost on there own. "Hopefully things won't get odd. It would be disturbing to have me walk in on myself. I don't remember anything like that... but I don't understand song travel threw time very well..."
"Neither do I," commented Naga.
"All right, lead the way." Missy said. Maybe when they got close, she could send the slavegirl to scout ahead where Rebecca indicated. No one should recognize her.
Sylvia looked around as the group started moving. Everything was so dark and quiet. It was creepy. She huried forward to catch up to Missy and slipped her metal arm through Missy's.
Rebecca climbed up a sturdy looking wooden latter that was against a building. She remembered one being in that spot, but the one she remembered was old and rickety... ether they replaced it or it was new... "We will be there shortly."
"Tell her what should be up ahead," Missy said, indicating the slavegirl. "She can scout ahead. No one should recognize her. Missy noticed the troubled look on Sylvia's face, and put her hand over Sylvia's. "What's wrong?" she asked.
"It's so quiet. There's no noise at all," she said. "it's creepy."
This story had more to it but it's gone missing. Perhaps we'll revisit it some day?
