Earthen Arcana
Earthen Arcana
The Earthen Arcana domain of study includes information regarding elemental earth and how it behaves in order to replicate its nature through wielding.
Effect
Keyword: Subduct
The target area begins to subduct. Creatures in the area of effect that are not flying sink with with area, becoming trapped in the environment. This effect does not apply damage directly.
- Mechanically there is no difference between horizontal and vertical surfaces, however, creatures do not fall sideways, and so would need some force to push them into the vertical surface.
- If a target's breathing apparatus would be within the earthen material, they acquire the Suffocating status. This status is removed when their breathing aparatus is no longer within the confines of the material.
- Increased efficacy in an ability using this keyword increases the durability of the stone surrounding the target.
- Range increases the depth that the target sinks into the earth.
- Target gains Hobbled status if their feet are subducted.
- Increased efficiency increases the hardness of the stone.
Keyword: Upthrust
Shards of terrain thrusts violently upwards from the ground to strike a target, dealing bludgeoning damage.
- Damage output is based on ability rating.
- Attacks with this effect are considered sneak attacks for the purpose of calculating damage.
- The wielder may specify, at the time of use, whether to produce a single strike action or a number of strike actions equal to the ability's efficacy rank. Single attacks deal the total damage in one strike. Multiple attacks deal 1 die each. Other subdivisions are at GM's discretion.
- This effect changes the elevation of the area of effect by 5ft. per efficiency rating. If multiple attacks are chosen, the total change is 5ft.
Keyword: Quake
Quake causes the ground to shake violently. Any free standing objects or creatures in the affected area may topple, gaining the Prone. Constructions in an affected region take damage from this effect, potentially collapsing.
- Ignores 1 point of hardness for each point of efficacy.
- Range determines the units of range falloff from the epicenter, measured as Efficacy x Range Units.
- Efficiency governs the construction damage falloff. For each range unit away from the initially affected area, the efficacy is reduced by 6, to a minimum 1. Increased efficiency reduces efficacy loss by 1 per rank.
- This effect does not directly damage creatures.
