The Death of Avatar Cheng

309AG
6/1

Today, the Task Force met and made their stride for the Great Divide where they searched for signs of the Avatar. Here, they found signs of a battle between an earthbender and firebender. From here, they found a trail that lead them to a cave, belonging to that of Bramu, a member of the Red Lotus.

According to the findings in this cave, this was the supposed instructor that Cheng had gone to meet. Though the location and status of Cheng is still uncertain, it was heavily implied by Bramu and through his letters that he, the Avatar, has met an untimely fate; leaving the world without an Avatar again.

The Red Lotus Task Force was informed of Prison Breaks that were scheduled for the White Lotus Prisons and made their best efforts to stop them, but were two late for both of the breaks. With this victory, the Red Lotus thought they were safe, but the Task Force was not going to let them escape.

The Task Force and the Red Lotus had a final battle between the Western Air Temple with the Red Lotus being ended where they stood. The age of the Red Lotus has finally met its end. With that being said, the Task Force has fulfilled its goal and will also be disbanded.

An official statement regarding the Avatar’s whereabouts was given by Tornak, leader of the Red Lotus Task Force some time later:

“I bring news of a note found on the body. It seems that despite our best efforts, Avatar Cheng has fallen. I can gain some solace knowing I am the one to avenge him, however the world has lost a great ally, and I have lost a great friend.

The note reads:

If you're reading this note, my plans have failed. The Red Lotus has been defeated by the task force after a bloody battle. I sincerely hope that others will learn from my errors and one day fulfil the dream of anarchy. As of writing this, there is a plan underway that will kill Avatar Cheng that has little chance of failing. For this reason, if the prison raids should fail, I shall welcome Death like an old friend. There is no reason to be continuing this game of cat and mouse should I be the last Red Lotus member standing. I will accept Tornak's death sentence in knowing some of my plans have succeeded. I am concerned about the future of our world if we allow people to have unchecked power. Let Cheng's assassination serve as a reminder to world leaders that tyranny will not go unpunished by the people who give them their power.

Though we have not recovered a body, a funeral is the least Cheng deserves, details will be posted when it is arranged.

May the earth lie light on you, old friend.”
