Public Information Posts

The city of Dinat is split up into six districts and within each district is a Public Information Post or PiP, as most people call them. They are used to display public notices and announcements, open work positions, and other district specific information. They are maintained and updated by the governing body of the GBC, but members of the public can apply for space on the board, often for a fee.   A PiP consists of a large, double-sided notice board within an open side rectangular stone building. The roof is made from timber and tiles, and the four square corner pillars are made from dark stone bricks. They are all situated in an open plaza with sufficient space around it for people to gather. The Boards themselves are made from solid wooden frames with three support legs, which are then affixed to the stone floor beneath. The surface of the boards is made from wooden panels which have been smoothed and sealed.   One face of the board is for official Public announcements. This is split into two sections, one of which has a sheet of glass affixed over the top of it to prevent tampering with the notices. Under this glass panel are important notices issued by the GBC, minor changes to governance or laws, dates for public gatherings etc. The other half contains details of work on offer that day by the GBC, minor notices, and old but still relevant notices.   The other face of the board is open for use to the public. prior permission must be sought in order to get a place on the board, although there is a small space reserved for last minute placements on a first come first served basis. This board usually contains more localised information, such as services or goods for sale, daily job offers, work positions and even missing person posters. Each PiP has four attendants / guards stationed at it, they are there to prevent vandalism, check permission slips, and to ensure fights don't break out over the the job slips.

A community notice board. Don't see enough of those around and absolutely love it! Good work.
