Cinemas

Wanna head to the movies with me? Uh, I mean…not as a date. There’s this new movie I think we should watch and they only have it at the cinema.

While the inhabitants of The Station stream their entertainment, most of them also go to the cinemas once in a while. Either because it’s a hot dating spot or because the cinema is showing a movie or a show that is only available and will only be available at the cinema. The cinemas are run by production companies that produce films, but they also buy the rights for movies from other planets that they also show in the cinemas.

History

When more people started moving to The Station after 502AS they wanted entertainment. The Dragons didn’t know what to do about that, the Bathhouses and the Gardens were enough entertainment for them at that time, so they took help from the people who wanted more entertainment and entertainment companies started to form. Some of the companies focused on hiring and managing social media influencers and entertainers while other companies focused on making movies and serial shows to stream on streaming platforms. As other planets already had a lot of movies and shows some companies focused on purchasing the rights to show them. Some of these companies opened up buildings where they could show these movies and shows exclusively. These are called cinemas.

Going to the movies

When walking over to the a cinema building the first thing a visitor would see is a a small rectangular digital screen that is about 50x20cm. On either side of this screen are two large doors. A visitor will type in a number they have gotten when they ordered a ticket on their Modi. The doors will open and the visitors can step inside. Straight across from the entrance doors is usually another large screen. Here people can pick snacks and light dishes to purchase. These will then arrive on a conveyor belt below the screen after a little while of waiting. To the left and right is a corridor with benches along the way where people can wait either for their food and snacks or for the people they are visiting the cinema with. When it is time to enter the cinema people will head further down the corridor indicated on their digital ticket. When they reach the door of the salon where their movie is going to be shown they stop and hold up their modi to a window next to the door with their ticket displayed. Their modi will beep and the ticket will say "accepted" when the Ticket checker has approved it and the door will open. Inside the salon are several rows of plush armchairs with little tables with cup holders and room for snacks. These tables can be folded back for the people who want more leg room and doesn't want to eat snacks in the dark. The visitors will sit down in their armchairs and wait for the movies to start.

The Snacks

Most cinemas offer different kinds of soda, teas and speciality drinks. As well as Pipika hot balls, Pops, rolls and several different types of candy. As for light dishes different cinema chains have different kinds.
