Ezzy's beauty community

I love Ezzy, they are so sweet and funny.
— A fan
Ezzy Darling, real name unknown, was in a couple of commercials as a kid and as a 14 year old, 27 years ago, they started publishing funny makeup tutorials for classmates on Joyoptic an online video sharing platform. They are currently producing beauty guru tips, beauty community news and other things related to make-up and other products on one channel, gaming content on another channel and singing covers and their own songs on a third channel.   While gaming and music content are the larger categories on Joyoptic, Ezzy’s beauty channel is a lot larger than their gaming & music channels combined and most beauty channel fans aren’t even aware that Ezzy has two other channels.   Ezzy’s beauty channel subscribers is a rowdy bunch and will go to great lengths for their favorite guru. Some of the gaming channel subscribers think that the beauty channel fans are a bit over the top.   The Beauty channel fans:
  • Comments on videos, often with enthusiastic and supportive messages.
  • They link and share Ezzy’s content across multiple social media platforms.
  • Have large dedicated fan club groups on all social media platforms. Even recently created ones.
  • They create and share fan art, video edits, and memes featuring Ezzy.
  • They host fan art contests and collaborative projects dedicated to Ezzy.
  • They organize fan meet-ups and virtual gatherings to celebrate Ezzy’s milestones.
  • They attend live events, meet-and-greets, and conventions where Ezzy is present.
  • They engage in online debates or arguments to protect Ezzy’s reputation.
  • They initiate trending hashtags and social media campaigns to promote Ezzy’s content and several charities.
  • They organize mass participation in voting or nomination events to ensure Ezzy wins awards or accolades.
  • They create and share DIY projects inspired by Ezzy’s tutorials and style.
  • They share personal stories and testimonials about how Ezzy has positively impacted their lives.
  • They post video responses and reaction videos to Ezzy’s content.
  • They send gifts and care packages to Ezzy as tokens of appreciation.
  • They act as informal ambassadors for Ezzy, promoting their content in various communities.
  •   Ezzy’s beauty community is large and relatively wholesome compared to other beauty guru communities on the platform. This doesn’t mean that there haven’t been controversies within the community.

    The plagiarism scandal

A popular member of Ezzy’s fan community was accused of plagiarizing fan art from other creators and passing it off as their own. This led to a significant rift within the community, with heated debates over intellectual property rights and the ethics of fan creations of real people.

    Toxic groups

Certain fan groups developed a reputation for toxic behavior, including bullying new members, gatekeeping, and excluding those who did not adhere to specific beauty standards. This created a hostile environment and prompted calls for better moderation and inclusivity within the fanbase.

    Haters

Of course there are always haters but Ezzy have directed their fans to ignore them or kill them with kindness. Which has always been Ezzy's policy. People's view of Ezzy is that they are a slightly naive sweetheart.   Around a year ago the beauty community learned that Ezzy's boyfriend had died in a genetic condition. The community are still in shambles and are trying to do everything they can to lift Ezzy's spirits.

Yeah, as a former Youtube Beauty Guru fan, I see myself in the eyes of this community. Good thing they're not from the toxic side of the online world in their world, ha. I love the idea that one side of Ezzy's fandom thinks another side is a little much.
