Shortlist for SC24 prompt 18

Hello! Durning this years Summer Camp I sponsored the species prompt "A species with a protective anatomy." There were a lot of awesome articles. Pat yourselves on the back if you submitted one. After a lot of arguing we have managed to cut the 233 entries down to 8. The winner will be announced during the World Anvil Summer Camp award ceremony on Twitch. Now...let's have a look at the shortlist articles, shall we?

Hayate

Very imaginative, but scary. An article with a lot of personality. Does their reproductive cycle count as dentistry?

Wacky and fun. I like that the level of their intelligence is mentioned.

Hayate

A short and concise article that paints a beautiful picture of the environment this creature lives in. The defense this creature employ creates possibilities for this creature to contribute to the world in many ways.

Short, sweet, clean, easy to read and even though it's a bit short there is room for the relevant information.

Hayate

The Turtlebug as a combined being has many ways to survive, and as a component, can also help others survive.

There was a lot of turtle entries and some bug entries, but no other Turtlebug. I think they are cute.

A rock-steady creature, whose defense also has some drawbacks that could make statues of them a fair bit more intimidating.

I like the interactions between the travelers and the poor overcalcified Cragbacks.

This creatures defenses is dependent on it's environment, creating interaction between the ants and the nature of this world.

Very well woven into the nature of the world and culture.

Nothing is as frightening as the possibility of being attacked by a toilet, and the training part of this article introduces a lot of possibilities for this creature to impact the world it is in, in new terrifying ways.

These shelled animals are capable of causing massive impact on their enviroment, but is still seen as mostly harmless. This article describes the inhabitants perspective on the creature and it's uses for those who live in the world.

Oh no! Their poor legs! Their intelligence is mentioned and there's a lot of different information about them. There's even an image of the inside of their shells.

Hayate

A species of mysterious book chasing crabs who possess a multitude of different defense strategies, with what might also be a most unfortunate origin story.
