The Old Greenhouse Area

We learned about it in school today. My parents say that I'm not allowed to visit the place.

When the dragons moved into The Station 2554 years ago, in the year of 473AR, they found an area in the Violet section which puzzled them. At first they thought it was a sun-room and they all gathered to lie on the hard tables to bask in the artificial sun.
It wasn’t until Uaran found the Greenhouse and plant research manual in 478 AR that they understood the reason for this area. The Dragons later learned from other documents that a Greenhouse is a building enclosed by transparent walls and ceilings. Usually made out of glass or plastic. The Dragons decided to still keep the name since it was what the original inhabitants, the Kaose, had called the area.
This area is now restricted for safety reasons and is becoming one of "Those areas".

The area encloses 21 buildings and 2 large gardens and what used to be an empty lot, but was built into another garden the first year after the manual was found.

History

This area was found in 07-09-473AR, exactly a month after the dragons had moved into The Station. They basked in the sun on the tables for about 5 years until Uaran found a document behind a desk in an office.
The document told the dragons how to operate the machinery in the area, how to plant and how to research plants. Eager to learn new things the dragons devoured the information and set about researching plants.
In 498AR the activity in the area was extremely busy and more places around the station had been converted to areas were plants were grown to produce fruits and vegetables for the growing population. These areas were called gardens. While this area were research took place was called The Greenhouse.
In 502 the dragons had opened up The Station for other species to move in and they got their hands on new trade agreements and more different plants to produce, research and experiment on.

Small disasters

From 498AR to 557AR and the closure of the area there were many small disasters plaguing The Greenhouse. Many scientists worried that The Greenhouse somehow was the reason for the disappearances of the original creators and inhabitants of The Station. They were told that they were scientists and shouldn’t be superstitious.
The temperature fluctuated sometimes without any thermostat, heater or ventilation malfunctions. The automation system for the watering of the plants malfunctioned often. Some believed that it was being sabotaged but no proof of that could be found. Many pests, fungal and bacterial infestations of the plants happened during the years that this Greenhouse operated. As well as power outages and light issues.
In 557AR the scientists received a plant from the planet of Faystrand that grew and produced berries faster than any other plant that the inhabitants had encountered. They had researched it and the scientists had started to experiment in making other plants produce their berries, fruits and vegetables quicker when the experiment went awry and the plants mutated. Because of the Verdant disaster The Greenhouse was moved to another area and this area is now abandoned. The New Greenhouse Area has never had the same problems this area had. ...Maybe the worrywarts had a point?
