Casimir Ram

A device for generating negative energy densities. Casimir rams are used to support space-warps such as those of starship drives, gravity brakes, and wormholes. In some cases, an operating Casimir ram will glow blue with light from Cherenkov radiation.
Casimir rams are placed into the mouths of active wormholes to stabilize them. A wormhole can be supported by external negenergy fields, such as in the first moments after its creation, but will be too small to pass matter and electromagnetic radiation. Once each mouth is enlarged, a Casimir ram will prevent it from collapsing.
