The Order of Quietus

Brief Overview

Known in modern-day Eden as a dead religion, there have been recent rumors of a new wave of faith circulating Birtham which closely follows the same line as the Order of Quietus, however, no one has been able to shed the light of truth upon those rumors. Back in 1812 BN, the Order of Quietus was a religion based on the worship of death, however, instead of openly worshipping their god Anubis, they hailed him as The Grand Reaper.

General Overview

It is believed that the followers of this cult-like religion were gravediggers, corpse desecrators, and undeniably vile people all around. They say that the stench of death followed them wherever they roamed, serving as a reminder that these people, though alive, were closer to death than any man, woman, or child on Eden, however, recent archeological studies suggest that they did these despicable acts in order to avoid blasphemy.
It has been theorized that they spoke to the dead themselves and after hearing the souls true story they would dig them up and bury them properly, offering them the rites of each souls actual religion. They commonly carried around incense in order to make the living more comfortable around them and the stench of death that followed, but their true priorities were with the people who were trying to travel from this life to the next...

All that is known of their culture is represented by the words scribbled on an ancient scroll found in the ruble of one of their shrines...

If the dead could speak they would say, I wish for my body to be buried my way.
If the dead could listen they would want to know, how much was the worth of the weight of their soul.
If the dead could touch they'd wish to feel, that the weight of the world had never been real.
If the dead could see they'd like a view, of the final rites spoken from the many for the few...
And if the dead could stay they would, but their corpse has died and is dead for good.
