Harmehms serum
The emergence of the sea of spores in the wake of the fall of Menor'cress led to numerous attempts by the denizens of the underworld in devising solutions to combat the mycelium blight and the horror it has unleashed. The Dvergar in particular utilized their talents in pyromancy to burn out the pestilence with very little success. Adamant to not rely on the great crystal field built by the Dral'azie to hold Spore sea at bay, the Dvergar pursued other means to fight back the effects of the pestilence.
After a century a serum was developed to combat the effects of the blight of Menor’cress, acting as an initial defence against the first signs of the mycelium spores entering the body. Created by a Dvergar alchemist Harmehm Farrock, the serum was developed in an attempt to allow the Dvergar to traverse the sea of spores, in a bid by Blorth, the Dvergar tyrant of Xhlar'torre to resume his war with Menor'cress, and ensure the cities destruction. The initial variants of Harmehms serum were ineffective, or lasted for mere minutes. Many of the test subjects experienced mild to adverse reactions to some batches. The most severe resulted in fungoid mutations that swelled and bloated the bodies beyond recognition, yet did not carry the blight itself. Most subjects still being lucid and retaining some of their facilities. Many of which were rleased into the sea of spores by Harmehm to observe their reaction to the sea itself. The last and most disastrously dangerous defective batch devised by Harmehm acted as a catalyst, accelerating the reproduction of spread of the spores, resulting in part of Xhlar'torre being quarantined and purged by Dvergar pyromancers due to an emergent blight wort within the city limits.
Eventually the serum was perfected by a series of successor alchemists to Harmehm Farrock, whom was summarily executed at the orders of Blorth for the multiple failures of the serum and the outbreak of the blight wort. This perfected serum works by stimulating the immune system to produce antibodies for a limited time that are able to envelop and neutralise spores that enter the blood stream, and is notoriously difficult to produce. Dependant on the individual, the serum can work up to between eight to ten hours, however taking consecutive doses results in sickness and bouts of vomiting which reduces the serums effectiveness.
