Savant Myrrh's Well

The oldest of the Ishaanrii holy sites, supposedly created by a gruesome beheading.

Throughout the tears of Eva, there are numerous holy wells, each are said to pertain a variety of healing properties, usually attached to a legend of a sacred spirit or sage that made these sacred waters flow forth by the grace of Eva. The Well of Savant Wyrrh has been a pilgrimage site on the Isle of Lelo Nalore for over five thousand years, and is said to have been created by the severed head of the Ishaanrii Savant Myrrh.   As legend goes, during the age of the gods, the fair maiden Wyrrh, sister of the revered hero Phormos, (one of the five companions to the legendary hero Aurelduin) was being romantically pursued by a man named Harant. Uninterested in Harants persistent advances and his increasingly elaborate attempts to woo her, she finally refused him. In a fit of rage and humiliation, Harant drew his sword and cut the fair Wyrrhs head clean off, before fleeing Lelo Nalore. When her head hit the ground, instead of blood came forth a spring, for the Goddess Eva had been watching and instead of letting her die, the goddess raised the poor girl up as one of her nymphs. From that day fourth, the spring remained. Those that heard the story visited the miraculous spring, and claimed that the waters they drew from it miraculously healed them of all manner of ailments. It wasn't until the fourth century of the first age that a proper structure was built around the spring, establishing the well and a small shrine dedicated to Wyrrh.   With the legend of Savant Wyrrh aside, there remains to this day a well and small monastic community on the Isle of Lelo Nalore that serves as one of the most well-travelled of Eva's holy sites by pilgrims, only second the The Cistern of Phaendar and the water gardens themselves. Visitors to the site can immerse themselves in shallow wading pools in the courtyard of the shrine, and bathe in the holy waters. Despite such a violent origin, Myrrh’s Well is a peaceful site that allows for rest and relaxation after the long and arduous journey to the shrine that might be more healing than the magic waters.
