Ilmater

Ilmater is a dead deity of The Common Pantheon who previously was charged with overseeing perseverance and suffering. He was the god of those who suffered, the oppressed, and the persecuted. He would offer them relief and support and encouraged them to endure while also encouraging those who would lend their aid.

6th Tenebrae Era

The Heralds of Darkness
Ilmater had chosen a cleric on the material plane to act as a conduit for his divinity among the time's adventurers. The use of a wish spell would remove the sealing of an ancient enemy of the gods known as the Heralds of Darkness. Istus would issue for the gods themselves to create a newly chosen group to deal with this problem. Ilmater quickly put forth his Cleric to usher the group forward.
With their newfound power, the Cleric could not bring themselves to ignore any suffering in the world. With a near-constant beckoning of Ilmater to perform miracles, it made the people and areas where these divine interventions become a target of the Heralds of Darkness. This drain on power and the lack of focus on threat significantly weakened both Ilmaters standing in the Pantheon and his power.

7th Sanctus Era

Ilmater's Dishonor (1st Year) As the threat of the heralds continued to rage across the planes, in a desperate effort to save Ilmater, the chosen Cleric turned on their allies, becoming a herald of darkness in exchange for his safety. This broke the god as he would head into seclusion, ignoring his duties.

The Night of Great Death (8th Year) On the 27th of Thawing, the Heralds of Darkness would launch their assault on many planes. Ilmater was found alone in his seclusion and slain, his body floating now in The Astral Sea.
