Eastvale and Westvale

In reality the "sibling cities" of Eastvale and Westvale on the southern coast of Quatrelot in the Scaled Seas are just one city, but good luck trying to tell either of them that.

Demographics

As a major transport hub within the empire the population is quite diverse in terms of races, religions, and places of origin but there are few places in the Eliasan empire where a population is more clearly segregated than on the two sides of the canal that divides them. Westvale is home to sailors, fishers, captains, dock workers, builders, servants, staff, merchants and more. The streets and neighborhoods of Eastvale on the other hand are reserved exclusively for those of nobility, wealth, the highest levels of privilege and those in a position to cater to the tastes of such clientele.

Government

The two sides of the canal have separate governments, though Eastvale technically has jurisdiction over Westvale and can supersede, they both elect separate officials, write separate laws, even maintain separate prisons.

Defences

The primary defense of Eastvale and Westvale is the large craggy atoll that encircles the island they're on. Aside from the imperial navy which can be called upon in times of major conflict, the city guard has a small naval force for patrolling the docks and immediate waters of the towns (essentially a martial coast guard).

Industry & Trade

The cities thrive off the seas. The fishing, shipping, and transportation industries make up the vast majority of the their revenue with a notable niche industry being pearl diving efforts out along the atoll.

Guilds and Factions

A number of prominent merchant and trade guilds maintain a presence within the cities. Additionally the adventurers' guild known as the Lyceum has a guildhall in both Eastvale and Westvale.

Geography

The cities sit astride the southern entrance of a massive canal that bisects the island. Sitting in a low lying plain this coastal city enjoys brilliant vistas and a fairly temperate climate.
