Skip Skiff

Skip Skiffs are small shallow draft boats all owned and operated by a single company with shipyards located in four different kingdoms within the empire including the capital Marcelheim. The purpose of these boats and their intrepid crew, is to travel from town to town spreading laughter, and positivity in a world that sometimes really needs some uplifting. Part sailor part bard, the helmsperson of a Skip Skiff known as a 'Skipper' is tasked with entertaining their passengers on a short pleasure cruise around their local waterways. Most opt for various forms of comedy, their founder having always considered wordplay the highest form of wit, but a few instead go for methods such as songs or storytelling as their source of bardic inspiration.
Regardless of the method the goal is the same to spark joy in the hearts of the young and old alike, an opportunity to put down the stresses of life's burden and just float along the water for a little while in a peaceful tranquility.
When a Skip Skiff is christened and first set to water each one is given a unique name for good luck, typically the namesake of a boat is the combination of the name of a river within the empire and an important woman in the first Skipper's life like their mother, or a significant other. This tradition has served them well as despite many sailings over many decades and encounters with river wildlife of all sorts, they've only had one skiff outright sink.
