Bee
Bees are insects with great spiritual significance. Bees are the caretakers of spirits.
Basic information
Spring is when most flowers are in bloom, so bees come out mostly in spring. They scavenge around a little throughout summer and stay inside their hives when winter comes around. There they stay warm by eating honey and huddling up together to share warmth. Bees can live on open grassland, forests, swamps, mountains, tundra and desert biomes as long as there are flowers there. However, they prefer to make their nests in trees if possible. Bees pollinate flowers to help them propagate and use the nectar to make honey for the winter in their hives. They protect their hives with a double-layer outer shell, usually made of dead bark and other fallen organic matter. Making it very hard for intruders to break the outer shell of the hive, and if any intruders managed to enter the hive they are attacked by the collective hive of bees.Predators
Ulag Spider
The main predator of bees are Ulag spiders. These spiders are specially adapted to hunt bees by creating underground networks of tunnels covered with webbing and laying in wait in an entrance of a tunnel. Ulags wait until a bee flies past their hiding spot and then pounce, grabbing the bee out of the air and taking it down while quickly covering them in webbing. They are extremely nimble and are rarely stung by bees. Some Ulags have been seen removing the stingers and draining the poison into their own fangs. Using it to enhance their own venom.Spiritual significance
There once was a battle between the two gods Arutixe and Rulach. Arutixe (the goddess of nature, warmth, day and emotion) and Rulach (the god of stone, cold, night, and intellect) both had many servants and fought frequent battles and for many years Rulach had the upper hand. Arutixe however was never thoroughly defeated and had been thinking up a plan. Rulach was difficult to defeat because of his unbreakable shield. It was made using his highest intellect of a black stone. Rulach killed many souls during this war, but ultimately that was his own undoing, as Arutixe managed to unify the energy of the souls into one force of nature's spring that slowly pushed out Rulach and his armies and with their roots and tendrils bore through his shield with a slow yet powerful force, ultimately shattering the shield. Arutixe's victory was not complete either and some remnants of Rulach and his power still remain in the earth. This is why each halfyear at the end of winter Arutixe calls for the lost souls to rise in the form of blooming flowers. The flowers are the last goodbye of all the souls that passed away that halfyear. The bees, Arutixe's servants, fly from flower to flower as caretakers of the souls. They unify the energy of the dead into the warmth of spring.Additional notes:
A spring with few flowers or bees is usually a sign of a cold spring and summertime ahead. Without the care of the goddess and her bees, the souls would linger and could not find their final purpose. This gives bees a special holy status and is why the suffix -be or -e is often used to denote something of good origin. The black armor shard is believed to be part of his shield.
