Nords

The Nords are the regular human inhabitants of Útgarðar and the most common race. They are a hearty people with a love of combat and good mead. They have a wide range of skills and talents and are as varied as any other race of man.

For playing as a Nord use these stats. Not you may just use the Variant Human race with the option to replace the feat with cold resistance.

Age. Nords tend to live shorter lives than other humans, but this is more due to their environment and battle ready ways than anything else. Your average life span is 60 years.

Alignment. Nords tend towards the chaotic end of the spectrum but can be any alignment.

Accustomed to the Cold. Due to living for generations in the cold lands of Útgarðar the Nords have developed an acute resistance to Cold damage and temperatures.

Nord Combat Training. Any Nord worth their axe knows how to wield a weapon, the lands of Útgarðar are dangerous and hostile so Nords are trained from a young age in weapon combat. You have proficiency with all simple weapons as well as one martial weapon, usually a sword, axe, or bow.

Survival Skills. The lands of Útgarðar are dangerous so being able to survive in the wilderness is a valuable skill. You have proficiency in the Survival skill in addition you know exactly what time it is by looking at the sun or moon, if they are in the sky.

Languages. You can speak, read, and write, any two languages. These languages tend to be the language of wherever you live plus whatever language you may interact with the most.

Culture

The culture of the Nords can be best described as brutal but refined. Most love the thrill of combat and wielding a good ax or sword. They also are generally gregarious and like a good mead or ale. They have a loose joking nature with eachother but if gone to far a brawl will break out. Frankly brawls break out anyway, but it is usually resigned for festivals and feasts. They are a good but rough people.

Trivia

• Do not insult a Nord's local brand of mead. You have been warned.
• They generally distrust magic but can trust the people who wield it.
• If insulted by a Nord look to see if they are smiling. This will indicate if it was a joke or not. But be carefully about people who just smile to be creepy.
