Warrior Crowns
One of the most notable forms of magical item created in Útgarðar are the warrior crowns. Magical pieces of headgear that empower their wearers. Each tends to be unique but they have a number of standard design cues. They tend to be a circlet that surrounds the head of the wearer with prongs that extend out of the top. Some have pieces that extend down frame the face and accessorize the wearers appearance.
Each crown tends to be custom made and as much of a fashion piece as a magical tool. They are decorated with gems and trophies of the wearer and act as a sort of walking trophy case for an adventurer on the go. The most ornate of these crowns tend to be custom made to include the trophies rather than have them added onto them. For instance one may take the teeth of a Wyvern and line the crown with them to strike an intimidating figure.
Just as varied then the decoration the actual effects of the crowns can be practically anything. A good rule of thumb is if it can be enchanted on a ring, helmet, or amulet it can be enchanted on a warrior crown. Some of the most common are effects to protect the wearer with magic shields or passive protection, blasting enemies with some magical attack, or some other useful effect like water breathing.
Despite the name the warrior crowns are not just worn by melee combatants. Wizards are actually known to wear them more than the average fighter due to the fact that they can make their own.

History of the Crowns
The warrior crowns were originality simple bands of metal that could be attached to a helmet that was modified to receive them. This was so that a person did not have to give up their cool magical effects because they wanted to switch helmets.
Eventually people started wearing the bands when not in full gear to have the powers while going about their day. They then began decorating these bands to become pieces of jewelry that could be worn at parties at feasts to show off their wealth, and to be able to defend themselves without carrying a visible weapon. This later reason caused the crowns to become popular popular with the nobility.
The crowns then moved onto their current design of fashion and magic after a few hundreds of years of evolution.
Common Effects
- Magical wards like that of a Ring of Protection and Protection From Good and Evil.
- Fire blasting, showy and effective this is the most common choice for offensive crowns. Other elements are popular as well with the second most common being lightning.
- Flashy but largely ineffective effects. This is the category of things that look really cool but are rather useless in actual combat. The most popular of these are glowing eyes that shoot lasers. Awesome? Yes! Practical? Hel no.
