Specialist

A rank that hunters with a special expertise or ability can be promoted to. Every specialist comes with a specific role that is assigned to them. This role is often unique within the guild or limited to a small selection of hunters. While performing duties not related to their role, they are just a hunter with a slightly higher salary.   When their current duties are related to their specialist role they can commandeer resources and request the support the support of other hunters. A team leader or division leader can decline the request, but needs a very good reason as they will asked to explain their reasoning in front of a committee. In reality these requests are rarely made and it is even rarer for them to be rejected.   The specialist rank is highly coveted by many hunters. It gives a lot of autonomy to act within the guild and specialists are highly respected amongst all hunters.

Although many specialist roles are unique they can still be categorized into a few types of roles. These categories are purely organizational and do not have any practical implications for the hunters attaining one role or another.

The most common subject experts are specific to a species of supernatural creatures or a group of similar species.   In order to become a subject expert specialist it is usually expected to have published several publications on the subject matter. As a result, it is mostly librarians, engineers, alchemists and other scholars that qualify for these positions. All subject matter experts report directly to a library branch manager. Their responsibilties include to further the research in this area, to teach what they have learned to others and to advise hunters in matters that are related to their subject.

Qualifications

Most roles require expertise knowledge or a specific skill set to qualify. These roles are trainable.   A few roles require special supernatural abilities that are usually acquired through the Blessing of the Huntress.
