Worldbuilding Prompts

Restructuring the Codex

We are currently moving articles around and changing the general structure of the Codex. Please come back later if you get lost!

Use the Prompts feature if you want some inspiration for your worldbuilding. Each prompt has a questions and a list of articles by other users answering it —if you answer the prompt, your article will be added to the list of answers.

Using the Prompts feature

When you go to your world dashboard, you will see the prompt widget on the top of the right sidebar. Alternatively, you can also access prompts from the Community page. The widget looks like this:

The displayed prompt is random, and you can get another with the Load another button. If the prompt has replies, there will be a reply count under the prompt (the example has 3 replies). If you click this counter or the Learn more button, the prompt page will open. This page has the prompt itself with all submitted answers and, sometimes, a nugget of advice.

Answering a prompt

Click the Write this prompt! button to answer the displayed prompt. The button will open a new empty article using the template you need for that prompt. Write the article as normal and, when you publish the article it will be added to the list of prompt replies (as long as it's public and over 300 words).   When writing an article that answers a prompt, regardless of how complete it is, you will see the prompt at the top of the right sidebar.

Submitting a Prompt

Submitting a prompt can be done via the following Google form: Submit Prompt. Make sure to fill in the full form appropriately. After submission, the team will review your prompt and might add it at some point in the future. There is no guarantee that your prompt is added.

is there any way to find your article after its been submitted?

Of course! Submitting an article doesn't remove it from your world, so you can find it using the usual methods (search bars, article manager).
