King Rank/Title in Wynsumheord | World Anvil

King

The title for the rulers of the kingdoms that surround Wynsumheord including The Nurvenheath Kingdom, The Syperragg Kingdom, The Eiterland Kingdom, and The Wahstrehite Kingdom.

Qualifications

The status of kingship lies solely upon birthright. If you are born into the royal family, it is your destiny to continue the bloodline and rule at your appointed time, passing the torch on to your offspring when your time comes to depart the earthly realm.

Requirements

Traditionally, the eldest son born to the previous King assumes the throne after his father has passed- no matter how old he is. If the eldest is a female, she will be skipped over unless there is no manchild born to the royal couple, but this is a rare case. Many Kings have gone to drastic measures to ensure that a manchild is born to them so that he may take the throne after they pass, consulting Witches and Wizards, and sending forth knights to find plants, minerals, and special treasures that are said to bring about a manchild.

Appointment

There is a great coronation held, which doubles as the funeral for the deceased predecessor. If the King giving up power is for some reason still alive but is passing down the crown for an unconventional cause, it will still be a celebration of the previous King's reign and the ushering in of the new ruler.

Duties

Primarily ruling over the people, doing as he pleaseth, issuing decrees...

Responsibilities

The king is not obligated to do anything. He can move about freely, he can create laws, he can order executions, he can command armies- all must obey him or be put to death.

Benefits

Kings are able to do whatever they please, and they are not obligated to do anything they choose not to do. No matter what they choose, no one dare oppose him, for he reports to no one.

Accoutrements & Equipment

Kings are dressed in the finest linens, are decorated with jewelry of the finest metals, purest golds, and most precious stones. They are crowned with a crown adorned with shimmering embellishments. They are seated upon the most comfortable of thrones. They are waited on hand and foot.

Grounds for Removal/Dismissal

The grand funeral is performed when the King dies, and concludes with the crowning of the heir of the throne. The only exception to this would be if the King is discharged dishonorably (which happens extremely rarely, due to the fact that none dare oppose the royal bloodline). In this case, there will be an uproar of the public, and, if the rebellion is successful, they will kill the throned King and take his crown and set it upon his son's head. This happens because the royal bloodline is so feared that, even if the subjects are brave enough to end their current ruler, the family has so much influence that they have not the audacity to claim the crown from it. Many prophecies and legends that say curses will be brought upon the people who oppose the royal bloodline and the new wrongfully ordained King will be doomed from the moment the crown touches the top of his head, bringing havoc to his house and destruction to all people for years upon years to come, as evidenced in the legend of the Doom of the Uproar .
