30 - Return to Phlan
General Summary
On your way through the slums of Phlan you bumped into the Black Fist patrol leader Francis who recognised Spearwall as an old “friend”. Francis mentioned that the Lord Protector Ector Brahms was trying contact the Welcomers regarding a book theft. As Spearwall ended the conversation, Francis offered help if Spearwall was ever in need.
At the Hanged Kobold Inn, the Welcomer sub-lieutenant Tilly Blackhand learned of the mask and the capture of Freddy Four-Fingers. She declared the Hanged Kobold Inn unsafe and suggested staying at the Laughing Goblin in the Docks for now. Supported by Flush, Bellfire flirted with Tilly. When Tilly was asked about the importance of the dragon mask, Tilly explained that Madame Kettle would know but she was out of town and she would send word for her. Finally before departing Tilly let you know that the Black Fist had reached out to the Welcomers in search of a thief. Perhaps something for the you to look into? Tilly would check in at the Laughing Goblin in a few days from now.
You spent the next day relocating to the Laughing Goblin, buying new supplies and doing various errands. Kirk and Bellfire hit the taverns looking for dice game and cheap ale.
Xanward reported to his superior Doomguide Yovir in the Valhingen Graveyard, and explained how you got the mask, the discovery of the snake people and about Mort’s Farm. Doomguide Yovir listened patiently and then said that a Knight of Kelemvor had attempted smiting Mort but failed. He also said that a situation was developing in a small settlement north of Phlan, a crypt of Kelemvor desecrated. You would be suited to help sanctify it should you choose to do so.
Xanward decided to visit Mantor’s Library, a great repertoire of knowledge in the heart of Phlan. In order to get access and assistance, Xanward offered a book found in the tomb in return for knowledge about the serpent people at Mantor’s Library and hoped to learn more about the mask without direct questioning.
