Chauntea, The Great Mother
Chauntea, the Great Mother is goddess of agriculture, fertility and home and as such she is very commonly prayed to in rural areas and farming villages.
In essence Chauntea’s faith is one of nurturing and growth and embodies "What you sew is what you reap". Her followers follow strict cycles to ensure a great harvest and similarly routines for childbirth.
As the Great Mother, Chauntea's priests are often present during childbirth and early on cultivates strong relationships with families and children. Though she has a diverse collection of followers, she is mainly worshipped by farmers, servants, druids, gardeners, and those who works on farmland.
Temples of Chauntea maintain knowledge about farming and cultivation and it is common for her priests to preach to communities of how to best prepare the crops depending on season. They are usually helping out on the actual farms, not afraid to get dirt on their robes. Her priests usually dress in white, yellow or forest green vestments that are made practical to wear on the fields.
Chauntea was believed to be one of the eldest gods in the realms, created by the primeval battles between Shar and Selûne. Selûne favored her and nurtured her with her light, with the help of Mystra.
