Chapter 15
General Summary
After a short jump to Commenor from Alderaan, The Traitors organized themselves into three shifts and arranged some planetside time for each group.
The Traitors drew lots to determine who went when, and, as the Freighter was their only ship, how many would go down first. They landed on 6 going down and they were allotted a 10-hour shift, including travel time which took an hour each way because of the commercial traffic. The first group to head down consisted those listed on the sidebar. For whatever reason Cademe's ID wasn't flagged and neither were any of the others, surely a good sign.
When the team arrived on-planet they landed in the midst of a protest in the Spaceport. An Anti-Imperial Protest was taking place because ships were stranded because of an Imperial Blockade that came through the network a scant hour before and the Traitors landed their hot-pink Ghtroc right on pad 5-besh-yirt-5, right on the outskirts of the mess.
Cademe just wandered out and, at the beleaguered stormtrooper's direction, took a backway off the pad, down a ladder and into the streets. Lyrann, Kirana, and Axelmos took the same root out, leaving Brexia to work on their speedertruck The Dewback and Xhugg to guard the ship. Cademe went to gamble. Kirana went recruiting. Axelmos went shopping for starfighters. None of them shared their plans with the others.
Cademe
Cademe went gambling. She played chance cubes with three ship captains, using the ship's credit account as her own having "borrowed" Lyrann's access codes. A Devaronian Gambler was shilling the other captains, slyly increasing the potency of their drinking and the bets in unison. Cademe kept pushing the bets, and after a few hours she and the Gambler had manipulated the pot into holding the holoslips for all four ships!
While two idiot drunkard Ship Captains gambled their livelihoods away, Cademe and the Gambler stared each other down, both suddenly sober. They had both rolled perfect Tuko to Kulro - the best hand in the game. The Gambler made an innocuous motion as he made his Hintaro Roll, and Cademe, suspicious of this strangely lucky Devaronian, shot him just as he shot at one of the Captains. Taking the pot, dead men can't win at dice after all, Cademe left the High Drox Cantina rather rapidly. Both other Captains were alive at that point...
Blending into crowds, Cademe tried to make herself innocuous as she moved as quickly as she dared through crowded streets to the spaceport. Honestly, who were all of these people?
Axelmos
Axelmos met with a parts merchant and found out that no starships were legally available in his price range. Outside the junk merchant's shop, a shady Aqualish offered "starships...for the discrete shopper." Axelmos realized this meant a black-market parts or ships dealer, but went along anyway. What's one more capital crime?
After many twists and turns, Axelmos was led to a fenced off alleyway near a warehouse where more Aqualish thugs stood guard. Axelmos went to meet a woman who knew far too much about him to be that unfamiliar, and she offered Kirahz Starfighters, on a barter/favor system, so no credits needed to change hands.
Axelmos' comm beeped. Thinking it was the Commander, he answered. Much to the annoyance of the woman, he chatted with the unfamiliar voice on the other end. The strange man's voice offered clean ships for standard credits, no debts. Especially not to the Black Sun Syndicate. When Axelmos' face darkened, the guards stepped toward him and the voice asked if he needed an exit. When Axelmos said yes, the world turned real chaotic real fast.
The fences exploded. The room filled with smoke. And suddenly Axelmos was flying. When Axelmos had a moment to catch his breath, he saw he was standing on the roof of a nearby building surrounded by people in full carapace armor facing a man seated on an upturned wire spool. The man spoke, introducing himself as Ryx, and explained that Axelmos had once been his commander in the Clone Wars. Ryx now worked for MandalMotors, and boy did he have a deal for Axelmos.
Ryx had four complete, new, Scyk Starfighters, unassembled, for less than market value! The reason was simple. The Blockade. They had missed their freighter and were coming out of his pay at cost, and he wanted to make up the credits. It would be illegal to sell them to anyone for market value, so why not hook up his old Commander? Axelmos accepted eagerly and graciously and also bought weapons on a credit-account using the ship's money and setting up the payments through the ship. They arranged for delivery and got gone quick before the goons showed up...
Kirana
Kirana went recruiting among the poor and disenfranchised of Commenor.
Lyrann
Lyrann went shopping for ship supplies, having a hard time getting foodstuffs. With so many people stranded on Commenor, food prices raised dramatically.
