Monster

Description

Default shape is a humanoid form that stands roughly six feet tall with a med to heavy muscular build.  Skin is brownish green, with darker green 'points' on extremities and a silver 'band' that goes across both eyes and curls around the ear holes.  Completely hairless.  Head is human-like with white, angular, eyes, 'toothy' lips with no 'proper' teeth in mouth and no visible ears. Arms and hands are very human-like, with hands having four fingers and a thumb, but with claws instead of nails. Legs are digitigrade with three toed clawed feet: claws are silver in color.  Has a thin tail that is four feet in length.

Clothing

When actively 'working', he goes commando, as clothing gets in the way of his shapeshifting. On patrol he wears a simple trench coat and a hat. In other situations, when he doesn't want to draw attention to himself, he shifts into a the likeness of a random person (after all, he doesn't want to freak out the store clerk if he's just out buying a gallon of milk).

Abilities

Monster is a shapeshifter, capable of turning into anything of equivalent mass, however the greater the difference from his default form, the harder it is for him to form and maintain the desired shape. If he tries to force himself to stay in a given shape, his body starts to 'glitch' randomly, increasing the risk of his disguise being compromised. In combat he is able to turn his limbs into various, temporary, bladed weapons, or turn them into tentacles. He refuses to use physical weapons as he prefers to utilize his own body to it's fullest.
He also has the ability to 'see' whether a person is destined for hell, which leads into his ability to consume said souls. That said, he doesn't need to eat souls to stay alive, thankfully, but does so anyway as his way to help 'clean up society'.

Occupation

Vigilante hero that is not above killing those he sees as a continuous threat to society.

Origins

At current, unknown, including his real name (if he ever had one). His ability to devour souls leads some to believe he is of either magical or otherwise divine/hellish origin.

Creative Origins

A dream that took place in the old Batman: the Animated Series universe, where he had 'taken over' for Batman after Batman for some reason 'retired' his cape and cowl, but Monster and another hero (don't remember who), were on a quest to get Batman back for some reason.
Important note: while this character was created with 'Batman: the Animated Series' in mind, I can very easily adapt him for original stories.

Inspiration

I have no idea what spawned this thing in my dream, but there's definitely some symbiote (Marvel Venom/Carnage) vibes with him (though I think the 'actual' trigger was from a comic I read on DA called Step Aside' by OrangeSavannah). A lot of the details put down on this page were made after waking up: I only really remembered that he was well-built, a green color, semi-human head, had a tail (I specifically remember someone asking him in dream why he has a tail: "Because I like having a tail") and liked wearing trench coats. So far other design influences I think came from Disney's Gargoyles and, of all things, the game Among Us.
