Scanner, Subnautica

Scanners in Subnautica cannot be purchased, but they can be found or provided. Upon entering the universe, if the Contestant has a computing device on hand, then they'll automatically get the blueprint to create one and the other blueprints that lead up to making use of it. However, if they don't have a computing device that can be used immediately, they'll instead be given a scanner with limited battery power.   The scanner is able to scan pretty much anything, and will create blueprints for the user's survival based on the current environment. A home to survive the weather is a survival device, but since you can always just go fishing for food, it won't create garden blueprints no matter how many seeds or plants the Contestant has on them or nearby.   Blueprints of undamaged technologies, base components, or structures are generated that use the same materials the original uses. Broken things count as blueprint fragments, and luckily you only ever need 2 or 3 to get a new blueprint. But the new blueprint won't be of the exact item since it was found destroyed; instead it will use resources from the area. Some are easily available, some rare, some refined from other materials.   However, the handheld device doesn't have a memory storage, so you'll need something with one in order to save any of the scans or have them mean anything. Got a computer, laptop, tablet, or something similar?   Tediously, different things of different designs do count as different blueprints. A solar panel is a solar panel, but if a solar panel uses biocomponents to produce electricity in addition, then that's a different device. A power emitter increases electricity availability, as does a power line. These are two different technologies with their own blueprints. A single bed, a cot, a double bed, a four poster bed, and a barrack bed are all different styles of furniture, and count separately as well. The list goes on.   Fun and informative, biological information about scanned plants and animals is granted by the scanner. Of course, the scanner only works so long as its installed battey has power.
