Talii
The talii are the primary peoples of the Talii'Mendo Realm. The talii are actually two distinct kinds of peoples. One are a more shark-built people, while their kindred are better suited for deep sea endeavors. The two peoples work together in harmony, and no real societal differences are enacted beyond the fact that the two races are incompatible for procreation.
"What fun you should be here in my home! I've long wanted to show you its sun and waters and people. Should you survive your strides of kinship, I am sure you will become in love with this place." -Endu'ano of Talii'Zhor
Talii lead lives devout to some of the more simplistic yet personable concepts of any of the realms. Honor, duty, strength and skill are at the forefront of their culture, while reading, art, and similar things are considered weakening endeavors. And it is not that those things can be done, though they should not be a focus. Only as mere necessity, and no more.
Mirahndi
The Mirahndi are the talii that originate from what is now Talii'Mirah. They are the shark-like kin, with a rough skin of dark shades, small fin features, webbed hands and feet, and gills at their necks. Their eyes have black schlera, and their pupils are often vibrant shades of deep purples, blues and reds, and rarely white. Standing well above the other races around 6'8" - 7'4", the Mirahndi are imposing individuals. They are phenomenal swimmers, and due to their gills, they may breathe underwater. While above water, their gills are rather fragile, easily disturbed by dusts and other particulate, as well as any airborne toxins. As well, clothing covering their gills is extremely discomforting for the talii, and they are frequently seen without clothing over them. Mirahndi are seen more frequently walking the earth of Virosia than their Zhorani counterparts who prefer water.Zhorani
The other form the talii take are Zhorani. These folk find their home primarily in Talii'Zhor, and are better fit for deep ocean travel. Their skin is softer, allowing them to dive much deeper, and beneath the skin itself are small points of bioluminescence that trail designs over their bodies. They have an additional set of eyes as well, which are naturally extremely absorbent of light. The Zhorani have fine control of their lights, which they refer to as oneri. They can produce intricate displays to convey meaning, and talii of both Zhorani and Mihrandi descent are familiar with this secondary component of the talii language. As well, when in groups, this can be used to distract and manipulate prey, tricking them into exposing themselves to a flanking party.Sensations of the Talii
The talii sense the world in ways very similar to humans, though they are larger and therefore much stronger. They can hear deeper tones, and better through water, though again all other senses are quite similar to that of humans. Talii do, however, have the preternatural ability to sense fear around them in a very literal sense. They feel it as if they were present to sar, a slight metallic-numbing sensation or tang that seeps into them at the presense of the emotion. When in groups, it gives them an intrinsic sense of whom to abandon if things go sour. Those still brave could be more easily rallied, and they may group up as they leave the others behind.Honor and Strength
The talii way of life is a rough one. They may live around seventy years, but the realistic lifespan of a talii is generally much shorter as a result of the Tides of Death. Death is a sacred idea in talii culture, and navigation of one's life with that in mind is critical to a society that functions for the talii. They are strong by necessity, and for the honor of defending Virosia from the horrors of the deep. The talii are a silent vigil beneath the waves. They have been at the forefront of slaying beasts that would crawl from the depths to lay havoc on Virosia's lands. The Tides of Death is a philosophy adopted by the Talii'Mendo culture to accept this role, and welcome the ideals of strength and death. To kill is to be superior. To die is to be inferior, but to fear death is to waste your life avoiding it. Embracing death as a challenger that you are fending off at every opportunity is a pillar of their beliefs, and letting go of the fallen is just as important. Emeth'du Ahl is a cultural idea that revolves around the rememberance of the dead through Korvyre. Bassyric bones are carved with the names and tales of those that have died and offered to the spiritA Rapid Nature
Talii live fast lives in many regards. They are not only physically faster than the other races, but their tolerence for patience is low. They loath the slow and steady race, and when an opportunity presents itself, they are the first to grab for it. Even their wounds suture themselves faster than that of the other races.
