The Drostol Comet

A Destiny Fulfilled

The Drostol Comet was destined for centuries before its arrival. The Path - the devout of Vissicara - was the dominant religious group during The Age of Towers, devout to the ways of life that the four spirits carved for their creations. They believed that everything was destined, already created, and that life and all of it machinations were an inevitability. Prophecy was outlined, and the Path formed around it. Coincidence became rule over the decades that followed their inception, as they truly gave guidance to many.   The Comet of Drostollor was a prophecied event that was thought to be a primogen for the end of days, as there was only one story left to take place; the awakening of the Leviathan of the Lear Sea. This was assumed to be the ruin of everything, though in reality, it was where the scrawlings of their Vissicus, the great guide that would lead them along the path, had stopped. It was as far as he could write before he had died. The Vissicarites believed he ascended, joining Vissicara in chiseling out the rest of fate.

Where it Landed

Where the comet landed, a crater of molten earth resided for a great time. The faithful of Vissicara gather around the crater, seeing it as a holy site. Communities formed in great numbers as the earth cooled. Seeing this as the end, the Vissicarans decided after some time to sacrifice themselves at the crater's edge after discovering the the Leviathan had awoken in the south. Nearly a decade after Drostolor landed, the disparate few that were not zealots split off in many directions, eventually forming the Drostollor country.   Etraline, also known as voidbar, starbronze and black-bronze, is a metal that is found within the ore extracted from where the comet landed. The material has interesting properties, including being quite resistant to the welding properties of mythral. As a result, the material is coveted by Drostollor, and it has become one of the most profitable exports of the region. Its properties, however, are not directly beneficial to making weapons, and so most etraline trade is between Drostollor and Fjorlosia, where refinement of the material into mythraline is practiced.   Despite this, some Drostollorian smiths craft with the metal using it for jewellery and decorative components of armor.
