Daeroone's Fiddle
-and a gold fiddle was laid at the feet of Daeroone, and the song he played with it charmed the Icons themselves, who granted him many boons in exchange. He would wander the world, playing as he went, and bringing a flood of emotions to all who heard his music. While the fiddle itself was enchanted so that anyone could play the most beautiful of music, it did not need to be so for Daeroone as he played it as well as it could be played with only his skill. None could surpass him.
-The Legend of Daeroone the Fiddler
In the grand scheme of mythological history, Daeroone is considered more folktale than myth if that distinction truly means anything. In the southeastern forests and swamps of the Pilgrim Lands, they spoke of a man who could play music so vividly on his fiddle that people would see specters and hallucinations dance in front of their eyes in a performance to match his music. So real they seemed that they could not be ignored, perhaps even being able to touch and feel themselves. Daeroone himself is said to have had quite the series of adventures both before and after he aquired the golden fiddle that gave him his name, but the fiddle itself is something that I would like to focus on. I believe it is real. I know that I do not generally attempt to use my own accounts as evidence of the mysteries of our world, but for the Fiddle I can say that I've seen it without a doubt. Not a coincidental golden fiddle, not a replica, and certainly not someone trying to match the legend. It could have only been the real thing. I saw exactly what the myths described, and I don't think I have ever felt such a swell of emotion as I did when I made viewed that performance. The only word to describe it truly is phantasmagorical. I will admit that they player did not match the legend of Daeroone, being a woman and all, but when I tried to ask after her she simply smiled in amusement and danced away. Any pursuit was blocked by further visions, and her final few notes came before I could try and find more about her or her instrument. When they were completed, she gave a bow and dissapeared in the same instant as the figures that had joined in on her performance, leaving me and a few others to stand in the dark, bewildered. My personal theory is that the fiddle has passed from one to another, but that seems a rather simple extraction from the information at hand. Who's to say if it was a kind passing down, or something that was taken from a corpse.
