Ehyst

Do not treat Ehyst as second rate simply because it has married into the family of the First Tsarina .
It has a power all it's own. Armies march on their stomach, do they not, and no one feeds as many of the inhabitants of the Brumel as they.
The fact that the Tsar of Ehyst's brother married the First Tsarina simply elevates them further. The Tsarina wouldn't ask her most beloved husband to turn upon his brother, and his brother would be a fool to try and seperate his nation from such a strong and powerful ally.

No nation in the Tsarinate produces as much food as Ehyst.
Of course, each nation produces some of it's own, but as a collection of nations locked in Winter or Autumnlands their abilities to do so are often rather limited.
It is only through concerted effort, and great investiture into the selection of seeds and infrastructure in an Autumnland that is bordering Spring and Summerlands (The titular Summerlands, as a matter of fact), that Ehyst manages such a feat. Such is their dedication that they must rely on many of the other nations of the Tsarinate for support and to fill the gaps in their economy.
They actually produce enough food for the whole of the Tsarinate and then some, exporting large amounts to other strugglnig nations. Mostly nations that exist within Winterlands, as they are always struggling for food.

Military

Given it's large farming population, the country has a sizable pool of manpower to draw from, as well as access to plenty of cavalry-worthy animals (mostly horses), but not much else. 
It relies on the military products of other nations to make up for it's lake of mundane and magical material of war. It is especially important because of the westernly location of Ehyst. Should war break out between the Tsarinate and the Empire of the Sun once more, Ehyst is the bulwark against them. 
Not to mention the importancce of holding the biggest provider of food in the whole of the Tsarinate.

Many of the innovations pioneered by Ehyst to produce large crops in Autumnlands have made the journey to other nations that are locked in cold climates. Their method of Aether powered heaters has become largely standard.
