Magic is a tiring endeavor.
If one wants to send a message to the other side of the known world, they have to have sufficient power to create a connection, as well as enough reserves to maintain that same connection, and even then the quality and clarity of the message is reliant on the actual skill of the magician creating the question.

Created in linked batches, what you write on one appears on the linked piece, facilitating communication across mountains, countries, oceans, and likely even the stars were people so far out there.
