The War of Brass Roses
Within only a few years of the Empire's founding, it was stricken with political crisis.
The Imperial Regent had died, some say from poison and others say naturally, leaving the Imperial Diet to choose a successor. A task they were unprepared for and ill suited.
Infighting began almost immediately as individuals attempted to gather supporters and coerce those they couldn't convince. Nations made threats to other nations, as well as individuals, and there was a very real and likely chance that the Empire simply collapsed so soon after its inception.
Almost immediately, the whole structure fell apart.
