The Warrior Temples
Since the oldest structures of Xotlac were built, its warriors sought inspiration in battle from their dangerous jungle home.
They drew from animals as well as monsters, and over millenia refined their martial arts in the Flower Wars they fought. Over time, certain schools would emerge, like that of the Jaguar, or the Ahuizotl, and all have differing doctrines and methods due to their points of inspiration.
Now, they struggle to modernize. Modern battles of musket and cannon hardly leave room for the grace of a jaguar or the resiliency of the Yahui. It does, however, respond well to the determination of the badger, and the swiftness of the Camazotz.
It seems a new paradigm is presenting itself within the Warrior Temples of Xotlac, and those that have sat at the top of the hierarchy suddenly find themselves largely ineffective. They will need to adapt if they want to survive in any more, and accept that many of the old Temples will be broken up in favor of new ones.
