Green Valley
As large as the events in the reach had been, in the end they remained only a smaller part of the Feran Invasions. Similar to the landings in Siris and Anrak, Feran ships had made landfall all across western Vardania. More disorganized than their eastern counterparts, hundreds of Warlords began to carve themselves realms of their own. The Tribes of the Summer Coast were pushed into the mountains, Rhomeia Colonies overrun, the ancient city of Madrin or Medran (in Feran) burned to the ground. The Gedari and Anari, old and powerful were broken, the Anari wiped out completely. By 850 most of the west was in Feran hands and when news of the founding of Feranar reached them, at first they rejoiced. And while they joined the kingdom, anger began to take hold. With Oakenshield, an eastern lord was chosen as king, without any western lord being invited to the council. And while they recieved positions of power, it was clear they were merely ceremonial and intended to placate. This affront marked the first divide between the Ferans of the Reach and those of the Summerlands. For the moment however, the elation at their victories and Oakenshields skill and charisma overshadowed any divide. Then in early 853 news form the south reached the court in Verdal...
It began with small fishing boats reaching Anrak. Curious the harbour guards looked on as they slid from the morning mist. At first few in number, they soon covered the entire harbour. The orange glow of torches, at first soft dots in the shroud of grey soon flooded both land and sea in their shivering light. Refugees, wounded and tired, eyes wide with fear, streamed by the thousands into the arms of the overwhelmed city-guards. Seemingly possessed they stormed through the city, fleeing into the empty plains behind. When one of the guards finally got to his senses, grabbed one of them out of the flood of bodies and questioned him, all he got was a panicked whisper: "Peithon is coming! Peithon is coming!...
