Holean Birthdays
Being confined to a rather small stretch of land for most of their history, they instead had taken to the sea. Skilled sailors and navigators, with centuries of experience, steered large fleets across the Wound. While most of their attention was directed toward Vardania, many fleets began to cross into the Divide, as pirates or conquerors they began to terrorize the coasts of the world
Two Gates and a Fallen Kingdom (843 - 850 DA)
The first blood was spilled when Vedrik Gedran entered the city of Siris in early 843 DA as a mercenary, won the trust of the populace and promptly turned around to slaughter them. Taking the city and naming himself Lord of the First Gate, he begun making forrays into the countryside. The ruling power, the Rhovarin Kingdom, which had threatened Siris in the years prior, soon became their target. King Modean however was slow to act, believing them to be merely overly ambitious raiders. Too late he realized that these attackers were here to stay and by the time he assembled his forces and beat various warbands, the Ferans had gained a stable foothold around the area. And with more and more fleets arriving in the cities harbour by the month, the new arrivals proved to difficult to dislodge. The stalemate continued throughout late 843 and into Calidan of 844.
The careful balance of power was shaken yet again, when news arrived from the east. A large group of Feran's hadn't taken the sea route to Vardania, instead following the Prophet and Gregan the Bloodaxe, they first traveled eastward along the coast and the northward trough the lands of Themyra and Interra. By mid 844 they had reached the banks of the Amarin, the river which marks the border between Vardania and Interra, where they made camp and began constructing ships for the crossing. In mass they set across, landing in a sheltered valley among the lands harsh cliffs. While most of them begun marching inland, a small group stayed behind and established the first Feran settlement on the continent. Anrak, the Second Gate.
