In the Shadow of Giants (710 - 842 DA)
The origins of the Feran people are a mystery. What is known is that they came from beyond the Dawn Wall, reaching the Outer Lands of Anidara in the early decades of the 8th century. They found a continent in turmoil. The wars of House Valaran had left Anidara in ruins. The wave of migrating tribes washed the weakened realms of the south away, the Ferans settling in the lands of the old Kingdom of Olrenia. While rather large in number they were split between hundreds of chiefs and clans and never formed a significant political force in the region. Throughout the late 8th and early 9th century they came under the rule of various Conquest Dynasties, in most cases as tributaries. From 830 DA however the light rule of the Kidarites was replaced with the iron fist of the Argead Dynasty.
Repression, overpopulation and the increasing harshness of General Peithon, governor of the region saw the Feran people increasingly desperate. Every day Peithon's Grip was chocking the life out of them bit by bit. Into this powder keg, it was, that a man named Vodarn stepped. Born in Illigara, the men had come in divine mission. He had been active in Onidara for quite a while, however, it was only after he had seemingly predicted the various changes, that befell the lands of the south in this time, that people began to listen. The Cult of Three began to grow, between the hardships and terror's of the south and Vodarn's visions of a promised land up north, there was hardly a choice. Eventually, outside pressure became too great to bear any longer. In early 841 DA, the Feran people began to leave Onidara in masses.
