I serve the Hegemony. I've done so for over 45 years. I'm not gonna stop just because some arrogant farmboy fancies himself lord of the continent.— Adeon Vargan
A state forged by an army it's hardly surprising that the Remnant is a Military Dictatorship in its purest form. The former civilian provincial administration has been incorporated into the army and while the bureaucrats continue to do their work, they do so advise and supervised by military officials. As a whole, the territories of the Remnant are under the jurisdiction of Lucius Peris Garin, former Imperial Minister for the Economy. The man few know and even fewer have heard of, was one of the main reasons the Hegemony's economy didn't collapse under the strain of civil war. And as the Remnant's
Pelagis Administrare, the ardent loyalist continues to work tirelessly, forming a functioning state from this backwater region.
The administrator himself is directly under orders from the military commander and ruler of the Imperial Remnant, Adeon Vargan. While having taken the title of Regent, Vargan is in essence simply continuing his role as
Warmaster of the Hegemony, supreme commander of all tarquinnian forces. Serving under him are General Bardas Victarian, 2nd in command to Vargan and Lecan of the 26th Legion, Ikris Segerion who is in charge of surveillance and communication and Alrik Dregan, Master of the Engineering Corp. The commanders of the various Auxillar and Legionairy regiments form a secondary ruling council, these veteran soldiers often consulted on strategic matters.
In essence, the Remnant is run more like an army with a large civilian component, rather than an actual state. This might be subject to change should the fledgeling power manage to weather the coming storm and form a more enduring entity. At the moment, however, this prospect lies far in the future.
