Treaty of Lykanos
Vardania was in a state of chaos following the collpase of the Second Tarquinnian Hegemony in 2242 DA. The once united continent split into dozens of kingdoms and warlord states, in some areas hundreds of them. While the east would coalesce into a number of Vardanian and Feran Kingdoms, the west would fall under the rule of the Vitrian Dynasties and States. Four centuries of war followed, during which the Dynasties attempted to break into the Heartlands and Reach, while the Remnants did their best to hold. In time, the east would surpass the west, growing in population and sophistication while Vitrian power waned, squandered by endless internicene strife.
In 2674 DA, the last Vitrian realm, known as the Anjing State, fell to a combined Feran-Vardanian Invasion. Economic and political ties, which had grown during the Vitrian Wars, drew the newly risen powers together and by 2678 talks began to discuss the reformation of the Hegemony. The driving force behind this, the Vateran Dominion, was by all accounts the only true successor to the Empire and its rulers had always desired to recreate the ancient days of glory. Other nations were far less enthusiastic, still remembering the cataclysmic wars that the end of the Empire had brought with it. One stipulation made by the other nations was for the last member of House Valerian to renounce his claim on the Hegemony and never make an attempt to claim the throne or any other top position within the newly formed realm. Other points of contention were the practice of slavery and slave trade, religious freedom, political representation and the ever present issue of taxes. After a year of debate and discussion, the treaty was signed on the 2nd of Iunis 2675 DA.
