Yan Chensal - Herald of the Dragon
To connect one world with another. To give guidance to those who seek it. That is the purpose of my life. That is why I stay on this plane far longer than the rest of mankind. In the far west of the known world, among the heat scorched plains of Harenara, there dwell the Hijin . A barbarian people who honour battle and horseriding in equal measure, they have long plagued the lands west of the Great Divide. But for a faction as present in Scetian conscious, as they are, there are comparatively few things known about the Hijin themselves. We do know that the entirety of the Hijin people are currently united under the banner of the Great Zhao, follow a religion based on ancestral worship and are guided by an enigmatic figure known as the Herald of the Dragon. This man, ostensibly going by the name Yan Chensal, serves as the spiritual head of the entire Hijin people. He is said to be the bridge between the realm of the dead and the realm of the living, speaking to them and gaining insight into events both past and future, for the dead no all that is and will be as they have seen both end and beginning. At least that is what the Hijin believe. He sits within a great temple, carved from and built atop a reddish mountain. There he receives all manner of guests, advisors, generals, priests and even the Celestial Khan, who wish to receive advice and help. Everyone is treated equally and respectfully, no matter the rank or wealth. His word is not necessarily law, but few would doubt it. Wherever the answers they receive are those spoken by the spirits is not certain, however. The Herald's words may mean many things, not all of them easy to understand. He is immortal according to Hijin faith. Only the blade can kill him, a feat few could accomplish for the Herald is a master of many forms of combat and could call upon the spirits in the direst of situations. Yan Chensal has lived several thousand years or at least he claims to have. And should he fall, he will "reform" a few centuries later. His second, far more martial, duty of the Herald is to initiate the Dragon. That is to confirm and anoint the mortal Avatar of the Great Dragon of the East. This man or woman only arises when the Hijin people as a whole are called to war. Be it to either defend themselves from a great threat or to embark upon a great campaign of conquest. During such times the Herald accompanies them, guiding the avatar for mortal forms, and be they of divine origin, are prone to doubt and darker thoughts. For the past few centuries, the Herald has remained in his temple and pondered the ways of the world. However, trouble within the Great Realm may demand he come to aid the Hijin once more.
Politics are a tiring business. Even for the spirits. I try my best at avoiding them as much as my position allows me to.

"for the dead no all that is and will be " It looks like your voice-to-text has gotten this bit wrong... So I'm wondering how the dead see the future? Is it that the world of the dead doesn't have time like we mortals know it? Or perhaps the more mundane answer is that they have observed the happenings in the mortal world for millennia, and after thousands of years it becomes easy to predict.
